Tax years start on April 6th and end of April 5th, the earliest you can submit your return is the 6th of April, this would include all information from the previous 5th of April.
For example, your 2018-2019 tax return can be submitted on the 6th of April 2019 and will include information from April 6th 2018 until April 5th 2019. Your tax return must be submitted by the following 31st of Jan to avoid late penalties. This would be 31st of Jan 2020 for the 2018-2019 tax year.
To help us ensure that we can complete your tax return correctly, before the deadline and save you from any unnecessary late fees, we require the following information from yourself:
Depending on how much you are claiming in expenses, the amount of information we need from you varies. Although generally, we will always ask that you supply us with as many receipts possible especially for cash purchases.
It would also benefit us greatly if you could provide us with bank statements for us to verify your income/ expenses.
A more detailed guide on what we need for your expenses can be found in our expenses guide.
We require this information so that we can submit your tax return accurately. The more thorough we are when preparing your returns reduces the chance of errors on your return, for which you are always liable, not the accountant. We also offer to guarantee your rebates, and we do not guarantee rebates unless we have seen all the accompanying information we require and have approved your claim.
